1971 Buick Riviera Boat Tail, Excellent Condition, George Barris Custom, and Documents
Sport Coupe in factory colors of “Nocturne Blue Poly, ” White “Madrid” Vinyl Top, and Blue “Cadillac”
Cloth interior.
This is the last of the true GM muscle beasts on a full-size luxury chassis.
Rare find: A 1971 Buick Riviera Boat Tail Sport Coupe with original dealer-installed custom George Barris “Madrid
Grain” Vinyl Top (1972) and dramatic rear side-pipe chromed exhaust. This Riviera has the 315HP Buick 455 V-8
“Big Block” with original Rochester 4-BBL carburetor and TurboHydramatic 400 transmission power plant. This
beauty is a very clean rust free example originally from high and dry North Dakota. Only 88, 000 original miles.
Newer base/clear finish in original colors. Original deluxe interior in blue “Cadillac” cloth and
“naugahyde” vinyl. All functional instrumentation. AC that blows cold with Retro-fit R134A. Cleanly installed
after-market AM-FM Pioneer Cassette player that plays well on all four “Quadraphonic” stereo speakers (Factory
Delco AM Radio included). Working power seats/power windows. Original style Buick Floor Mats, Great sounding George
Barris custom chromed rear side-pipe exhaust. Chromed GS 15” Rally Wheels and White-Wall tires. (Front Chrome
Bumper Guard and collectible 1971 North Dakota Plate included)
*This Riviera comes thoroughly documented with owner manual, shop manual, dealer brochures, miscellaneous
invoices/documents, and Protect-O-Plate.
Special Notes: Maintenance schedule is current. Clean unmolested engine compartment with 45 year-old natural
patina-No leaks/No smoke or noises. It still has some original surviving factory stamps and tags under the hood.
Clean metal throughout and clean original felt with cardboards in trunk area. Good rubbers throughout. Ready to
roll. Frankly, one of the best riding/driving vehicles I have ever experienced in a classic Buick- very solid,
quiet, and will roast the rear tires off ; ) It only needs a good home and driven occasionally. One of the last in
a local collection-lady owned out of Memphis, TN.

Sales Slogan
“Buick Riviera Something to Believe In”
According to Buick Archives: A sensational new Riviera debuted for 1971. A full-size car with a boat-tailed rear
roof line, window section, and sweeping side sculpture greeted 1971's Riviera customers. Wheelhouses were wide
open after a year of skirted fenders. Riviera shared “Full-Flo” ventilation with other Buicks and had the
unique “louvers” on the deck lid. Standard features were numerous and included heater and defroster,
custom padded contoured seats, “deep pile” carpeting; electric clock, smoking set, head restraints, new seat
belt system, inside hood lock release, variable power steering, TurboHydramatic, power front disk brakes, and dual
exhausts.
